Think — Who Benefits In the Long Run?

September 20, 2024

Protect California Homeownership. Just Vote “NO” on Prop 33.

Proposition 33 aims to repeal the Costa-Hawkins Rental Housing Act, expanding rent control to single-family homes and giving politicians and unelected boards complete control over rent prices. This will strip homeowners of their rights, such as controlling rent or adjusting rates when tenants vacate. Prop 33 will worsen California’s housing crisis by discouraging new construction, reducing the supply of rental units, and increasing rent for tenants and homeowners. Additionally, it highlights potential economic harm, claiming that increased rent control will make building and maintaining housing financially unfeasible, leading to higher costs and a loss of rental properties. I urge voters to reject Prop 33, which would exacerbate affordability issues and harm homeowners and tenants.
