Housing Policy and Fair Housing
This category covers the laws and public decisions that shape housing in California, along with the history of fair housing. You will find our commentary on state and federal legislation, ballot measures, rent control proposals and property taxes, written from the point of view of a brokerage that works with owners, buyers and renters every day. Some of these posts take a position. When we think a proposal would make housing harder to build, to own or to afford, we say so and explain why. Others look back: at the long struggle for fair housing in California, at the barriers that kept many Americans from owning property, and at the occasions, such as Juneteenth, Black History Month and Women's History Month, that remind us how recently those barriers stood. Policy can feel distant until it shows up in a tax bill, a lease or a loan application. Morgen Real Estate is committed to fair housing and equal treatment for every client, and we are glad to talk through how a new rule may affect your plans in the Los Angeles South Bay.
